Bomberman (E) ISO

Bomberman (E) ISO

Description :

Bomberman Party Edition is an Action Puzzle game, developed by Metro and published by SCEA, which was released in 2000.

Bomberman is one of those games that feels as though it has been around since the dawn of time. For all I know, it probably has. A simple puzzle concept combined with an addictive formula makes for a truly compulsive gaming experience in any one of the many platform versions that Bomberman has been released on.

Bomberman is a classic game that deserves a place in any gamer's collection. If you don't already own a Bomberman game, then I recommend getting hold of this version for sheer posterity.

Game Play - 8/10

There are different modes available here. The multiplayer option works very well, especially if there is a large group of people playing. This is ideal as a party game - although somewhat competitive!

The premise is that you need to lay bombs in order to vanquish enemies. Power-up items are available, in various types and with various effects. In the process, you must avoid getting hit by an enemy or being caught in a bomb blast yourself. In multiplayer mode, the other players are your enemies, and you must battle to survive the longest in order to win. In single player mode, computer generated enemies appear - there are various types and they move at various speeds depending on the level you have reached. Obviously, they get harder and move faster as you progress.

Single player mode is a remake of the classic version. You can play the updated version or an older version which is truer to the original - you choose which from the menu screen. Both look good and play well.

Graphics and Sound - 7/10

Very old-school graphics appear on this game, but then it is a very old-school game, to be fair. Bomberman is a simple 2D game with a top-down gaming board which you play on. Anything more complex than this would look ridiculously out of place, given both the age and the style of Bomberman.

The sound is very similar to the older versions, so it can sound rather tinny, but this adds to the whole retro feel. Again, anything more complex would be out of place here.

Try to ignore the fact that this is the Playstation and remember the glory days of 1980s gaming. Appreciate the simple retro feel and become immersed in it - this isn't so much a graphical triumph as a history lesson, and I for one wouldn't have it any other way.

Replay Value - 8/10

It is virtually impossible to reach the higher levels without plenty of practice, and it is likewise virtually impossible not to play this without coming out with phrases such as ''Hang on I can get this!'' and ''Just one more level and I SWEAR I'll go to bed.'' It's so addictive it should carry a health warning! Having said that, a few months down the line and it's easy to get bored, as once it's mastered there's very little else to do. From the multiplayer perspective, play with other people who have mastered Bomberman for some tough and lengthy battles. In single player mode, once you really get used to playing, it can be a little too easy to play again without getting bored.

Having said that, it takes a good long while before you can truly master Bomberman, so the replay value is fairly high.

The Bottom Line

This is a true classic and a must-own game. If you own an older version for another platform, there isn't much point in buying this. If you have yet to experience The Legend That Is Bomberman, then I can't recommend this highly enough.

Bokan to Ippatsu! Doronbo - Time Bokan Series (Japan) ISO

Bokan to Ippatsu! Doronbo - Time Bokan Series (Japan) ISO

Description :

Time Bokan Series: Bokan to Ippatsu! Doronbo is a Shoot-'Em-Up game, developed by Eleven (Japan) and published by Banpresto, which was released in Japan in 1996.

Bokan to Ippatsu! Doronbo is a Shoot 'Em Up developed by Banpresto and released for the PlayStation and Saturn. In the game, players take control of Doronjo, the main villian in the Yatterman series who, with her gang, fight against the main heroes of the Time Bokan franchise.

Gameplay :

Bokan to Ippatsu! Doronbo features 8 stages which involve Doronjo and her gang defeating a certain hero. At the beginning of each level, the player has access to six mechs each with different stats based on attack power, speed and shield. Half way through the game, an additional three mechs are unlocked. Once the player has made their choice, they are locked into that mech for the duration of the level and cannot switch to another until the next level. Also, players cannot use the same mech twice in a row, due to required repairs. Similar to other Shoot 'Em Ups, players can upgrade their vehicle's weapons up to level four through the use of powerups in the form of Doronjo emblems. However, upon contact with a Yatterman hat, their weapons are degraded. There are several other pickups that can be obtained such as ones that restore the player's shield, grant extra lives or enable 'turbo' allowing the player to move much faster for a short period of time. Also scattered throughout the levels are skulls, which once collected up to a certain amount, allow the player to transform into a large mech and unleash a devastating attack. The player also has access to an unlimited supply of bombs, but each must be loaded individually and can be charged before being thrown. However, this limits the movement speed of the mech and while holding bombs players cannot perform barrel rolls, a vital move in the game. If the player loses all of their shield, their mech explodes and the Doronbo gang appear riding a bicycle with a simple attack. This grants the player the chance to find a shield pickup and continue on.

Stages :

As mentioned, each stage features a hero from the Time Bokan franchise to fight. Every stage also includes a sub-boss in the middle of the level.

  • Stage one: Yatterman 1
  • Stage two: Yatterman 2
  • Stage three: Zenderman
  • Stage four: Rescueman
  • Stage five: Firebird
  • Stage six: Gyakuten Ippatuman & Itadakiman
  • Stage seven:  Gyakuten Ippatuman 2
  • Stage eight: Time Bokan

Bob the Builder - Can We Fix It [U] ISO

Bob the Builder - Can We Fix It [U] ISO

Description :

Bob the Builder: Can We Fix It? is an Action game, developed by Steel Monkeys and published by THQ, which was released in 2001.

Bob the builder is an excellent game! This excellent title features such amusing characters as Bob the Builder, Wendy, Muck, Rolly, Lofty and Dizzy! The aim of the game is to help Bob and his tractor friends build anything from a house to a tennis court! This great game is not only fun for the young children out there in playstation land, even the oldest man would find this game enjoyable, Really, this game is enjoyable for ages 3-99,I guarantee it.

Graphics

Bob and all the other cast look just as realistic as they do on day time TV,but at times when your building the graphics seem to become slightly boxy. But when the cut scenes play, I guarantee you'll be SHOCKED at the quality of this excellent playstation game. To be quite honest this game is worthy of the PS2! The vehicles look very realistic, Although the background doesn't look too great, When you see one of your character friends talk, there mouths will move realistically. Not something you see in many Playstation 1 games. The vehicles move nice and smoothly, and The characters seem to walk just like real people.

Sound

This is really the only let down of this game, the theme tunes do sound kind of 1960-ish if you know what I mean,But alas they are quite catchy. When you first play the game the sound will annoy you quite badly, but after an hour of playing, you'll soon get used to it. The way the vechiles move sound excellent. And Bob's voice sounds just like it does on the TV show, so there are no let downs in this department. You can even hear Bob's footsteps when he walks, and when the tractors Scoop, you can even hear the soil falling from the tractor's scooping device!, This game's sound's are EXTREMELY realistical!

Re-playability

Even if you finish the game, I guarantee you you'll want to play it again. There's no limit to what you can do. You can create a big house, a small house, A tennis court of any color you like, A swimming pool, A farm yard, Well, Anything you want really! So, This game will keep you occupied for a very long time! Well, I personally played this game for nearly 5 months! And it still keeps me fascinated to this day.In fact, I could honestly say no game has ever kept me as interested in it for as long as this one has.A true masterpiece of a game.

Gameplay

BRILLIANT! The controls are very simple to work out, and there's no complicated ''Combinations'' you'll need to use to move Bob around. The game can be easy, But then it can be hard, It depends how serious you are about, You can build something easy, like a tennis court in 2 minutes, or something hard, like a farm in around 45 minutes, It may sound like a lot of time, but as they say, time flies when your having fun, onto fun, the game is one of the most amusing I have ever played,it has lots of jokes from Bob,Wendy and all the other workers, and all the amusing antics of the bad scarecrow. This game really makes you laugh and chuckle!

Story
You play Bob,a friendly builder in a quaint English village.Your job is to,with all your friends, build a town for the citizens of this village, what you build is up to you,but if you build tacky buildings,The residents will move out to a better town! The game is fast paced, you have a time limit to build houses for the residents, but after that you can build anything from tennis courts to shopping malls for as long as you like, but make sure you dont overcrowd the town, the game has a really good storyline, and unlike some other THQ games, the creators have really put a lot of effort into this.

Blue Forest Story - Kaze no Fuuin (J) ISO

Blue Forest Story - Kaze no Fuuin (J) ISO

Description :

Blue Forest Story: Kaze no Fuuin is a Role-Playing game, developed by MBA International and published by Right Stuff, which was released in Japan in 1996.

this game was originally made for the 3DO with the simple name of Blue Forest Monogatari. While we own it, we've yet to discern any major differences between the two other than the openings. The 3DO opening has a naked woman that was removed from the Playstation game. Developed by Right Stuff, who are probably best known for Alnam no Kiba, Flash Hiders and this, we've strangely gotten a small fascination with this developer. But, to say their work has an acquired taste is an understatement.

Like a lot of the games Right Stuff has made, nature and spirits play an important role in the overall theme of the game. You'll have to forgive me on the summary of the game, as I haven't picked it up (sans today) for quite some time and I've almost completely forgotten what the heck I was even doing in this game.

Basically, you can choose between two chosen heroes, a male, Varuerusu (...Valelse? or "Val" for short as a nickname from others) and a female, Rakujitto (Maybe Rakjeet? They have some crazy names), who have their own perspective on the story and constantly cross paths and fight together. However, the real character of importance here is Val, who has a demonic force sealed within himself that he doesn't know how to control. He travels from land to land trying to find out about his origins, destiny, and why there are people who would seek to harm his friends and family. Along the way, you'll get involved in A LOT of RPG filler, so enjoy fighting whenever you can.

This game is not one of Right Stuff's better works, but it has one or two peculiar elements that make it stand out, and it's a pretty old Playstation RPG. The main thing of any interest is how battles are played out. Characters have different fighting stances that invoke different abilities, and they can become more proficient with a style as the game progresses. For what it's worth, attacks and the like are interesting and the pacing of battles is acceptable. Overall however, this game may seem too bland and mundane for casual RPGers. Enjoy.
